You should also read at least the background/summary to the UK libel law reforms in the Draft Defamation Bill proposed by government, and the joint select committee's response of 19 October.

The final removal of seditious, obscene and defamatory libel from the UK statute book: "The following offences under the common law of England and Wales and the common law of Northern Ireland are abolished—
(a)the offences of sedition and seditious libel;
(b)the offence of defamatory libel;
